Gucci Fashion

Formerly known as the House of Gucci, the fashion designer is most known for the leather handbags that are sold world wide.

Every woman knows that a Gucci handbag on her arm is just as fashionable as a good looking man, and they are just as sought after.

The original leather handbag with the bamboo handle hit the runways and marketplaces in 1947. During the 1950's, the trademark fashion red webbing was introduced; an idea that Gucci got originally from the saddles the company manufactured at the very beginning of the family business. Guccio Gucci was never to see the ultimate rise of the company to stardom - the fashion designer died in 1953, leaving the family to carry on the tradition, and carry on they did. The Gucci name was highly sought after during the fifties, sixties, and seventies - especially by celebrities, who had to have the newest designs in handbags as soon as the status symbols newest designs were available.

Celebrities helped the Gucci designer brand name along to widespread fashion fame, as Jackie Kennedy was photographed with the long strap handbag, Grace Kelly and Audrey Hepburn were also Gucci fans, and every woman had to have the Gucci accessories that these famous women wore. But the fame of the company was to take a backseat to the turbulent eighties, when losses in the company led to the family to sell out the company to Arab concerns.

Today Gucci is back on the rise with new president Tom Ford. The famous GG is still the recognized insignia for the fashion designer, but the company has expanded to include other leather items such as belts and shoes, and adding perfume, scarves, cosmetics, jewellery, and eyeglasses. The designer brand perfume especially has been very popular, with each one having a different but distinct undertone of both floral and musky scent. Gucci rises again to the top of the fashion pile.
