Women's Halter Necks

Halter necks were the women's top of choice for both the bikini top fashion and the summer tops of the sixties.

These women's fashions were easy to make at home, simply fold over a bandana if you were thin or sew together a triangle of you were a plus size. They were simple, summery, and light weight. Now they're back in style and seen in more places than the beach or the park – although most youngsters today would die rather than venture out in something they’ve made themselves at home! The simple cotton of the sixties has given way to a myriad of fabrics, colours, and embellishments.

Fashion halter neck t-shirts are hitting the runways for the spring/summer collections, and halter neck backless dresses are being designed for both casual and formal wear in women's fashion shows. The halter neck is also found in athletic wear, such as yoga outfits and training suits. The new women's sports bras include a halter neck. This is also a cute style for teens and children. The summer children's halters even come with matching ones for your mum!

Halters can either be slip over, pulled right over the head and made from one thin string in the back of the neck, or two ends that tie together once you have the halter on. The original women's top used shoestrings or plastic cords! The back of the top that rests against the small of the back also has the option of being one or two piece. Halters can be made from any fabric, from the original bandanas to fashion rubber and leather for a night out. Metallic and beaded halters are in, because metallic and beads are the current women's fashion style for all the spring/summer tops and dresses. It is the age of the sexy, feminine, metallic look, and the classic halter is a great way to show this fashion style off.
