Once an American tradition, Levis brand name designer jeans and coats have gone on to be the most popular denim wear around the globe.
Levi Strauss didn't know that he's design of attaching rivets to the stress points of jeans for the purpose of creating a stronger work pant would someday make his fortune in the fashion world and his name a household word.
The original button fly 501's came out when the workers in mines and the cowboys on the plains complained that the stress points of the pants gave way too easily and they would have to be taken into town to be mended by a local seamstress. Since workers didn't get into town that often, a clothing manufacturer and his partner decided to put rivets in and the original Levis 501 was born. Nobody cared about fashion back then, and Levi Strauss certainly did not think of himself as a fashion designer.
The shrink to fit style was an accident. At one time all denim shrank a little when washed, but the body hugging style was meant to be, and this style of the fashion designers jeans became famous. Today there are eight distinctive styles of Levis. The baggy pants that were the ultimate in fashion in the late eighties has given way to the slimmer fit, and the boot cut and low riders for women are as sexy as jean as you can buy. Fashion designers all over the world have copied the style to some degree, and the waistlines continue to get lower as the season goes by. The original designer brand name, though, remains the same and people will pay hundreds of dollars over cost to own a pair. Simply for the easy the recognise leather and cotton patch on the back of the waist.
The eighties saw the emergence of the designer brand Levis acid wash jeans, the very straight leg, and the already broken in style, complete with holes already put in the knees. But the best style of Levis continues to be the shrink to fit, wear out the knees yourself, original button fly 501's. Always in fashion.
