Men's shorts should be a fashion consideration. The high thigh cut of the men's shorts in the seventies has come and gone, but it seems as though the shorter the men's shorts, the worse they look.
Designers caught wind of this and now shorts hit just below the knee. The cut isn't that much different this year, but the fabrics and colours have changed.
Linen is the preferred style of short for the men's fashion spring/summer collection, but because linen is so transparent when wet, shorts have the same type of lining as men's swim wear. Light weight linen is a more formal looking fashion fabric next to cotton, although historically linen has been considered a casual fabric. Cotton or cotton/polyester blends are still one of the best choices for men's shorts, and wearing strapped sandals with them is the preferred style among park and beach goers. This is true for any style, from men's cargo shorts to men's board shorts for the beaches.
The colours are the big deal this spring. Faded orange, blue, and washed yellow are in as a Mediterranean style takes hold of the fashion runways, but the classic black and white never goes out of style. One would think that pastels for men's fashion would be a little much, but women find it romantic and sexy as well as strong, so get out there and don't be afraid to wear the lighter colours The more neutral men's fashion colours are favoured for office wear, and a slightly heavier fabric in beige or light brown is a good choice.
More offices are becoming easier in the styles allowed for the warmer months. Some men's shorts now come as sets with light blazers which can be pushed up at the sleeves for a casual yet professional look. Men's short fashions have come a very long way from the athletic shorts worn in the gym or on the running track.
