Nothing says "I'm successful" like a good suit. For the up and coming business associate, the power suit makes for a good example of style and taste in clothing. The popularity of men's causal suits went away for a while, but it's back with a vengeance. The mix matched combination of casual trousers and polo with a blazer over the top just didn't cut it, and now the fashion tables have turned, bringing back the matched boxy cut reminiscent of James Bond. (Check out Calvin Klein's new collection.)
A few fashion styles to take into consideration when buying a suit:
1. While four button suits are still in, they tend to look best on tall, thin men, as do the double breasted.
2. A double breasted suit should not be your first choice to stock your office wardrobe with, but owning at least on for big business meetings is a good idea.
3. Vests are also out for everyday office wear, but feel free to break out the vest for evening and elegant wear.
4 . Vents in the back of the jacket and pleats in the trouser are very European and still shout “good tailoring”. Feel free to buy as many of these as you wish. Always go with dark blue (Navy) or grey for everyday wear, especially if you only own one or two. Save the olive green for clubbing.
5. Wool is the quintessential fabric for a man's suit. Buy tweed, flannel, or worsted. Cotton is the next best choice. If you are only buying two or three, make sure you get at least one wool and one cotton blend (for warmer days.)
A fabric that is very in right now for men's suits is linen. All of the new collections by fashion designers are using linen this year, so you might want to check out their collections. For traditional suits, though, wool and cotton as still and always will be timeless classics.
