There are several main different styles of nightwear for women's fashion needs. The cut, style, and versatility of the women's nightwear will determine which type is right for you.
Nightdress
First there is the very traditional nightdress or nightgown. These are typically floor length, but some of the newer fashions have them stopping at the knee like a man’s nightshirt. They are made from flannel, silk, cotton, rayon, or fleece and are comfy and stylish. The problem with longer nightdresses is that they tend to ride up while you are sleeping, becoming bunched up under your stomach and can even cause you to lose sleep from the discomfort.
Robes
Robes are wickedly stylish and come in many different fashions. They are what the family and friends see when you open the door in the morning, and are big in women's fashion nightwear. They can have pockets, close with a belt or snaps, and be any length you like. Women tend to spend more on robes than they do on sleepwear because of this women's fashion trend.
Pyjamas
Fashion pajama sets are the most popular in women's fashion for nightwear. They are two piece and don't ride up like nightgowns. Many sets come with a matching robe, and they are made out of as many different kinds of fabric as the robe. They are button down, pull over, strapless for the spring and summer, or made of flannel and some even have feet in them for the colder months - a winter must in women's nightwear for the very cold regions.
Baby dolls
Baby dolls are the sexy nightwear that a woman wears when a guy stays over. They are typically open at the waist, and come with matching panties. Lacey and elegant, playful and sexy, these are the number one selling fashion women's nightwear item that men buy for women. Made from chenille, lace or silk, some are satin, they are short, cute, and make a women feel beautiful. They are not to be confused with chemises, which are longer and more like very short women's fashion nightgowns.
Sleep tops
Sleep tops are like fashion thermal tops that you would normally wear when working outdoors on a cold day. They are designed for fall and winter weather and are very warm, but not the height of women's fashion. They usually come with matching pajama bottoms and are a big seller in women's nightwear. Think T shirt for sleeping in!
